When the person closest to you already has an answer, it gets hard to hear your own thoughts. Maybe he brings it up every day, or maybe he said it once in a way you cannot stop replaying in your head. Either way, you may feel like the clock is running out on a decision you haven’t had the chance to fully think through.

While time is of the essence, it doesn’t mean you don’t have a moment to think. At the Pregnancy Help Center in Torrance, you can make an appointment for free, confidential pregnancy services and talk through your situation without anyone rushing you.

First, Confirm the Pregnancy

If your pregnancy test comes back positive, you may qualify for a limited ultrasound.

An ultrasound answers three questions that shape every option in front of you: how far along you are, whether the pregnancy is developing inside your uterus, and whether the pregnancy is growing or has already ended in miscarriage.

Those details change the options that remain available to you and which ones carry added risk.

Once You Have the Details, Breathe

When you know the full situation, you can think more clearly and understand your pregnancy choices. You can take whatever time you need to breathe, evaluate your options, and think about what you truly want now and in the future.

The decision is ultimately yours to make, so let any feelings of your partner having control over you fade away. If you’re in a healthy relationship, he will want to talk with you and work out a plan that makes both of you feel comfortable and confident.

If you thought your relationship was strong, but he insists on pressuring you, there could be something else at play.

When Your Partner’s Pressure Comes From Fear

Sometimes urgency from a partner stems from fear rather than conviction. Men facing an unexpected pregnancy often react to their own worries about money, readiness, or the plans they had for the next few years, and that reaction lands on you.

We offer support for men as well. If he is open to it, giving him a place to sort out his own thinking can lower the intensity of your conversations.

When Pressure Crosses Into Something Unsafe

If your partner threatens you when you say no, keeps you from the resources you need, checks your phone constantly, or leaves you scared of what will happen if you don’t go along with his plan, that’s gone past pressure.

If you feel unsafe right now, call 911.
